About Debby Wheeler

Debby Wheeler began her agility career in 1998 with her Italian Greyhound, Marti McFly, but she had been active in dog sports with her Yorkshire terriers, Boston Terrier, and American Eskimo, many years before Marti… Debby’s passion for dogs has been life long.

Debby became an AKC Agility Judge in 2005 and has spent 4 years of her career as one of the AKC Field Representatives actively promoting all dog sports and endeavors to improve the sport of agility. She was selected to judge the AKC Agility Nationals in 2012.

When she is not judging, she competes with her Vizslas (Rumor & Pushinka) and Smooth Fox Terrier (Ripple) in agility, obedience, rally, scent work, dock diving, field trials, barn hunt, and tracking.

Debby has been an Agility Instructor since 2000. She has competed with her Italian Greyhounds, Pointer, Portuguese Water Dog, Vizslas, and Smooth Fox Terrier. Her dogs have taken her to multiple National and Invitational events, including making Finals multiple times. As well as competing at the national level, her dogs have earned over 12 Championships. Her students have also achieved National recognition in multiple competition venues. Many have also made finals at these prestigious events.

Debby has been competing in Scent Work for 6 years, instructing since February 2022, and was approved to judge AKC Scent Work in April of 2024. She looks forward to helping the continued growth of the sport and hopes to provide a positive experience for all teams by designing searches that are appropriate for each level.
